2009 is about to end and I’m sure most of us are already thinking about our New Year's resolutions. By this time, we are already making a long list of New Year's resolutions inside our mind but sad to say in reality most of us actually will never see these resolutions through. Sometimes, we have too many New Year's resolutions in our mind that most of the times we tend to forget them.
I think one reason why we failed to fulfill our New Year's resolutions every year because we don’t know what resolution to prioritize. As much as we wanted to make a long list of New Year's resolutions, in my opinion, we must only choose one that we think it’s important and achievable. I know it’s a small step but at least it is a start.
So what is my New Year's resolution for 2010? As I was reading the blog of Jiggy Cruz on “What will make the Pinoy a better person?” he said that punctuality will make us a better nation. He stressed in his blog that we Filipinos are not time-conscious and that time is of essence and he feel that the time wasted cannot be brought back.
I agree with Jiggy though we medical doctors should be flexible when it comes to time but we must also remember that being punctual on any appointments is also being professional. I admit that I am frequently late on most of my appointments because I have to make rounds for my admitted patients in the hospital and sometimes I have to attend to emergency calls but this doesn’t excuse me for not coming on time. As a doctor, I must learn how to manage my time in order to be punctual. For me, being punctual next year is not only a want but it’s a need.
So what is your New Year's resolution? Actually, it can be anything you want like what Mo Twister shared in his blog about New Year's resolutions where his friend took it super specific like no movies for one year then no fast food for one year and no haircut for one year which he thought was impossible but his friend succeeded. Do we have that kind of discipline? As I have said, I need to be punctual next year. How about you? Remember, be more specific this time...

Excellent job! Now that you know your priority, then its about time to put it in action, MOTIVATE YOURSELF!!! Dont just wait for 2010 to make it happen, do it the soonest. Remember, its a test of how disciplined you are and it is not that easy. Sustaining that resolution needs a lot of sacrifice and discipline. Just be optimistic to do it, and eventually, you'll be getting used to it!!As a person, I know how well disciplined and organized you are, and i must agree being early in your appointments is one of those things which i think you had taken for granted over the years. Keep it up doc!! I know you can do it!!!
